May 17th from 7am-9pm BCSD will be holding a vote for the 2016-17 budget.
The BTA hosted a contest to find Batavia's best pizza. $4000 was raised and donated to a high school teacher's family that is fighting pediatric cancer. Main Street Pizza won the event, and everybody had a blast! Thanks to everybody that volunteered and donated.

Reflections on 430 Years of WFEA Membership
When our last day of school arrives, West Fargo will have 14 retiring teacher members. They have a total of about 430 years of teaching experience in our district. We asked them why they chose, during their careers, to be members of WFEA. Below are some of the responses …
The Budget Proposal has finally been released. This is the proposal that was negotiated by the Governor prior to the end of the legislative session (which ended 5/4/16) but was not brought to a vote in either chamber of the General Assembly. This proposal is expected to be up for a vote in the Senate on Thursday 5/12 and it is not yet known if the House is willing to put this to a vote.

Forty years ago, a Corpus Christi ISD middle school teacher named John Cole helped galvanize a few dozen of his peers around the idea that a union could improve not only their plight as low-paid educators, but also the quality of education for the kids they served.
Twenty three hours before the legislative session ends,apparently the Governor and the Democratic leadership at the legislature reached a budget agreement. We have not seen the agreement other than this condensed version. The agreement is not yet in the form of a bill, however, it is expected that it will be voted on before midnight tonight (5/4/16).
