PATFA Annual Meeting set May 21 for two live locations: Orono and Portland
All adjuncts who teach in the University of Maine System are invited to the Annual Meeting of the Maine Part-time Faculty Association (PATFA) on Saturday, May 21 – at two locations, Orono and Portland.
For the first time, PATFA will conduct the meeting via live teleconference between a site on the University of Maine campus and a site at the University of Southern Maine campus in Portland.

UMS adjuncts to receive 2 percent pay raise
Good news! Come Sept. 1, all part-time faculty teaching in the University of Maine System will receive a 2 percent raise in their pay, the Maine Part-time Faculty Association announced April 18.
Adjuncts who have taught 13 or more fall and spring semesters will receive an additional 1 percent raise.

Spring Membership Meeting April 18, 2016
Please come to our Spring Membership Meeting, Monday April 18, 3:30 to 4:30 pm in Room 2925.
We are meeting with a short but important agenda:
- Nominations will be taken to serve as next year’s representatives on the union’s Executive Board—as well as nominees for delegates to the Martin Luther King County Labor Council (MLKLC) and for the AFT National Convention.
- Kira Wennstrom, our lead negotiator, will provide you with an update about our bargaining process and we will explain how you can help support our bargaining team through participation in issue focus groups.
- Additional announcements and updates—like a save-the-date for an upcoming thank-you reception for our associate faculty, plus a few other items.

Green River College Employees Evaluate the President's Performance
The faculty at Green River College today released a report detailing results of their own campus-wide performance review of President Eileen Ely. In the absence of what they would consider any meaningful evaluation of the President by the Board of Trustees, the faculty union provided all employees at the college the chance to assess her performance. Their goal was to show the President and the Board of Trustees a more comprehensive picture of her management style from the perspective of those she leads. [read full story]
