Members go to Annapolis to fight for pay equity

Charge nurses and physicians took to Annapolis to lobby legislators for better pay. As it is, physician clinical specialists do not receive the same pay as psychiatrist clinical in a given state facility. AFT Healthcare-Maryland, which represents physician clinical specialists, are working hard to ensure our members who do comparable work receive comparable pay.

January Political Committee Meeting

With each passing month, we get closer to the most important election of our lifetime, the 2020 Presidential Election. In January, things get more complicated for the state federation with the start of the Maryland General Assembly Legislative Session. Despite all that’s going on, AFT-Maryland Political Coordinator Todd Reynolds convened the monthly political committee meeting.

Legislative Committee meets

Things are off and rolling in Annapolis for the 2020 Maryland General Assembly Legislative Session. In an effort to get the state federation on one accord, AFT-Maryland’s Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs, Denise Riley, chaired the year’s first legislative committee meeting.

Jump Start January Better Health Symposium

Looking to improve the New Year? Come and join Mayor Bernard C. “Jack” Young to launch the 20/20 Inaugural Initiative. With Support from the Department of Human Resources Wellness Program and the Office of the Labor Commissioner, monthly activities are planned to help employees with personal and professional goals. Jump Start January Better Health Symposium will kick-off the monthly series presented by Mayor Young and also featuring guest speaker and fitness expert, Laurent Amzallag. There will be vendors on site from various healthcare companies and wellness programs too.
